Chapter 7 – ConfigurationsChapter 7 – Configurations\Configuration Links

Configuration Links

When a configuration node is selected, configuration links can be added, replaced, deleted or moved.

The next toolbar is available only in configuration edit mode.

If the root level of the configuration is selected, you may only add a child link. (A configuration cannot have more than one parent.)

When an object added as a link has its own configuration of the same type as the configuration into which it is inserted, that configuration will be nested within the parent configuration.

Example Configuration object B has an As-Modeled configuration with links to B1 and B2. When B is inserted in the As-Modeled configuration of A, B1 and B2 are inserted as grandchildren of A.

When you add a link to an object that does not yet have a configuration of the same type as the parent, a configuration will be created for the linked object.

Example Configuration object B, a child of A, does not have an As-Modeled configuration. When you insert a child link from B to C, an As-Modeled configuration will be created for B.

In this example, the Folder configuration was selected. This configuration only allows to add objects of type « Drawings » or «Folders» or “Technical document” etc.

The Administrator can define these links when creating the configuration type.
