Tasks in assigned packages are of two types:
Tasks
that have been specifically assigned to you,
Tasks
for which several possible assignees have been defined, and which you have
decided to claim.
The assignation type is indicated in the «status» column (it appears in the list of assigned packages, the summary of the assigned package, and the summary of users involved.)
If
there is only one assignee, that person is responsible for the task
If
there are several assignees, the first to claim the task takes responsibility
for it.
The participation status changes when the task is opened.
If the status of a task is «Not Started», it is assigned to either you personally, or you as member of the group responsible for getting the task done.
If the status is «Started» the task is assigned to you as member of a group. The first member of the group who becomes available, or the first who claims the task, takes over the responsibility of doing the work.
The complexity of a task is highly variable according to the nature of the activity involved and the type of package. A task might consist of filling out a form, providing some information, checking attachments. Other times, a task might be a matter of checking over or validating the package data.
